Senior Data Scientist

Job Description

As a data scientist, you will contribute to our data analytics products, evaluate and improve the products as well as internal processes including data collection, quality control, product analytics and such. You will collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team of engineers, analysts and business users to work on wide range of problems and instill analytical rigor and statistical insights to the solution.

Duties and Responsibilities

As part of analytics unit, data exploration, analytics, modelling and visualization will be primary tasks to create state-of-art and business impacting solutions.

• Explore new data source and enhance data collection and wrangling procedures
• Creating data protocol and analytic framework for variety of data sources
• Perform experimental design, data mining, data analysis, develop and improve algorithms to gain actionable and valuable insights that support both internal and external clients
• Building reports to communicate complex ideas or results to diverse audience
• Provide consultancy in develop research project methodology and statistical result interpretation
• Provide coaching, training and guidance to fresh data scientists and internal stakeholders
• Prepare, execute, follow up education and training
• Perform such other duties as are customarily associated with such position and as the CEO, the Directors, or its authorized representative may be required from time to time

Qualifications Requirements

Working Experience

• 5+ years of relevant experience

Qualifications

• Background in quantitative or technical field (Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Software Engineering). Master or PhD preferred
• Fluency in SQL and at least one analysis tool such as R, Julia, SPSS, SAS, Scala, Python, Excel, etc.
• Substantial statistics and machine learning knowledge (multivariate analysis, regression, time series, SVM, etc.)
• Advantage if familiar with Natural Language Processing, Artificial Intelligence and Deep Learning
• Advantage if familiar with data engineering and big data techniques (distributed databases, NoSQL, Hadoop, Hive, Spark, etc.)
• Proficiency in at least one visualization tool such as Tableau, D3.js, Qlikview, etc.
• Self-starter, ability to initiate and drive projects to completion with minimal guidance
• Ability to translate requirements to high level technical specifications
• Problem solving skills and experience with open ended projects
• Ability to provide creative and elegant solutions to complex issues
• Analytical mind and can be trusted, pay attention to detail
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, willing to learn, must be able to work in team or independently, produce result in accordance to timeline
• Demonstrated success in using analytics to drive the understanding, growth, and success of a product, particularly on domain of social politics and economics, marketing and people analytics, retail, property or market research
• Language requirement: Business English (beginner level)

Working Condition

Regular working hour (10am-7pm) at Dattel Asia office in Malaysia. Respond to reasonable requests for additional hours as and when it is required in performing the responsibilities.
